Yup very similar experiences, not a whole heck of a lot to do in DC besides seeing the sights unless you work there.
Cemeteries do vary greatly, a high population density West Coast city is not the best judge of national trends I would think. Plus, I think war cemeteries are different from normal ones. I saw the cemetery at Gettysburg, and it looked a lot like Arlington, only the headstones weren't as neat and ordered.

There's a beautiful cemetery nearby where I live. All trees and overgrown (old) gravestones. There's some new stuff too, of course. People have picnics there. It's a wonderful place.
If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone
It's a lovely day in the woods today, but safer to stay at home

*laughs*. Right then. Here goes.I don't think that view represents even a minority view. It's just people are not accustomed to asking for pics, they are usually posted spontaneously -- see windy and Freen.
Crud, they are all mini. This will take awhile.

The Cemetery at Gettysburg, similar to Arlington, but the rows at Arlington are neater and more symmetrical. Forgot to bring my camera to Arlington.
