A Holiday much needed...
The other difference is that the reserve is accessible to a new player, whereas you have to know the market storing trick to use it. It's an unfair advantage, IMHO.

On the other hand, that means that people who want to both actually sell troops on the market and store in reserves lose out. For example, I may want to sell troops cheap to my clanmate, who's hawking, while still storing some troops away for myself.
I propose this:
The market capacity is reduced to 50%, with a 80% (or higher) commission. The market is then used only for selling troops. You don't need to pay upkeep, because you've given the troops over to the market commision.
A seperate reserves is added, allowing for the storage of 20% - 25% of your troops, at 1/4 upkeep. This is clearly labeled, and mentioned in the game guide. Troops can be placed on reserves at anytime, and can be pulled 6 hours after first being put on the market. Troops appear instantly after being pulled. There is no comison, tax, or cost for pulling them.
(Alternately, require a 6 hour wait between the time they were pulled, and when they were availible. This is more realistic, however, somewhat impractical. It requires people to plan in advance the time of their runs, and get on 6 hours in advance to pull their troops. Not especially hard for people who can be on multiple times throughout the day, however, for those who can only get on once, it presents a real problem.)
Kraken: Don't call me "Rudderbutt".
Gondor: I never said you had no skill. But you don't have the skill to take emp, and thus you shouldn't be. Not without a large coalition of allies, which shows diplomatic and leadership skill.
Yes, it's a strat, but it's a cheap, unfair, unbalancing, and undesireable strat. Which is why we're removing it.

What I said would rememdy the problem, if added completely. You could still sell on the market, but you couldn't pull stuff off in large quantity-the commission would take too much.
I'm not proposing eliminating a pulloff completly, I'm proposing eliminating pulling your marketed troops for the purpose of gaining the troops. You'd get a few back, but it wouldn't really be enough to be benificial, you'd only do it if you were never going to sell the troops, or if you were in really dire straits.

Gondor,
If a strat is deemed unfair, unbalancing, or in any way undesireable to the game, it is the job, task, and duty of the admins to remove it. I know how to market store quite well, but it takes out of the game one of the aspects we want - that the skilled rise to the top, while the unskilled settle to the bottom, and that the longer you hold the top, the better you are.
If you can present reasonable evidence for keeping market stroring, go ahead. If you're simply going to complain about your favorite strat getting nuked, do it elsewhere. I've already cited my reasons for removing it, and presented my plan. Counter, or be silent.

yaR!
hey, listen Mr. Beatles, i think
<span style='color:red'><span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Rudderbutt</span></span>
is onto something good here! the reserve component is not only a realistic goal, but something original! *gasp*!
and one more thing Rudder, i know how to market store and such and i still disagree with the high cost of pulling and putting them in. but! i can safely say that not everyone plays the game such as yourself and has been quite succesful in doing so. should gondor ever decide to quit screwing around, he would take emp.
besides, what works for one may nor work for another.

all about FAVRE, come on...you know you want to click it
The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.
