1st point: Bollocks, absolute historically-refutable fallacy. The USSR did some really fine science, at the top in many fields like math & physics for decades. This was precisely because government poured money into those fields (well, not math, that was just a Russian tradition). But untrue.
2nd: absolutely. The main problem.

Absolutely correct, the USSR did world-class research. They were among the leaders of quite a few fields of science. They were behind the US in many areas yes, but they weren't backward or anything like that.1st point: Bollocks, absolute historically-refutable fallacy. Crap sorry bout that, I had tried to post a link to a yahoo video that showed a map of the region while it played the audio of Condi saying that they're glad that Russia made the offer, but the US was just going to continue on with Poland/Czech. I went back and copied a link to a yahoo story that had a link for the vid at the bottom but apparantly I didn't paste it.
BTW my fixation on Poland over the other countries is because that's what the fuss is about. The one that appears to be aimed at Russia is causing this fiasco, the others haven't been much of an issue to my knowledge.

I never specifically said the Soviets. I meant Communist countries in general.

Money isn't everything, there's more money to be made in other fields besides science in America well. Always has been. Scientists are usually treated well in Communist countries. They are over regulated, and this can slow progress, science does not stagnate in Communist countries though. History shows that pretty clearly.I never specifically said the Soviets. I meant Communist countries in general.
I see, well, Russia is also upset about the Czech Republic getting the radar stations. And it's upset about the Czech Republic joining NATO.BTW my fixation on Poland over the other countries is because that's what the fuss is about. I read the articles, and it certainly does not seem like Putin's proposal is being ignored.
