I'm currently trying to create my own Promi, but when I uploaded the files to the server, I got the following error message.

If someone could, help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a chance that you may have found a bug in the SQL parser. Please examine your query closely, and check that the quotes are correct and not mis-matched. Other possible failure causes may be that you are uploading a file with binary outside of a quoted text area. You can also try your query on the MySQL command line interface. The MySQL server error output below, if there is any, may also help you in diagnosing the problem. If you still have problems or if the parser fails where the command line interface succeeds, please reduce your SQL query input to the single query that causes problems, and submit a bug report with the data chunk in the CUT section below:

I believe I can help with this one, it looks like there's 2 rabbits mating on your keyboard. (I'll probably edit this when I'm sober)
I know the voices in my head arn't real but they usually have some pretty good ideas.

I swear, I actually rolled out of my chair laughing so hard I had tears coming from my eyes.

I don't quite understand what you're trying to do. You've read the INSTALL file, I hope? All you need to do is upload and you're ready to roll -- databases and stuff are automatic. Edit configuration via config.php.

Wolf bite, you're not being your usual "helpful" self, now are you?

*Sighs.* On the host I was hoping to use, the only way to upload php is to do so via a specific, already created mySQL database.

There isn't anyway around that, is there?

Not sure I follow you but you set the name of the mySQL database in config.php.

code: Select all

	$config['dbhost'] = 'localhost';       # MySQL server hostname
	$config['dbuser'] = 'root';   # MySQL username
	$config['dbpass'] = '';        # MySQL password
	$config['dbname'] = 'prombeta'; # MySQL database name

upload php? I think you may be mistaken.
download FAF.zip, unzip to your desktop (etc), take that folder and upload the entire thing with a ftp client like smartftp. all of it

once the files are on the server, open the config.php with a text editor (able to be done via smartftp with ease) and edit the file where turok is pointing.

the mysql database sets itself up, ask your host for the specific info (dbname, user, pass) there's no need to touch the mysql db yourself

That usually mean the database info is not setup right. What is the link to the site? I will help you get it going.

check your config.php again
the link to your site should end with a /
if it does not it'll result in what its doing now

edit:
http://blackbirdfly.no-ip.org/faf
vs
http://blackbirdfly.no-ip.org/faf/ <- correct

(blackbird is down for now, but faf isnt a correct folder anyhow)

Thanks; it works now.

EDIT: You know how the password is emailed to your account? Now that's not working. Additionally, the skin's acting weird; on the game guide and player rules pages, it abberates from what I've set as the default. (And it doesn't appear as a new player's default at all).

Is your webhost's copy of PHP running under 'safe mode'? Create a file with the following to find out:

code: Select all

<?php
phpinfo();
?>
0===)=B=j=o=r=n==R=e=d=t=a=i=l==>

What should I name the file, and what happens after I create it?

Anyways, one more question: how do I edit the front page?

You can name the file whatever, phpinfo.php is fine. Then upload it and browse to it. That will show you all the php info and options on the server.

Pages are stored by default in the templates/prom directory. Look at htmlbegincompact.html and login.html.
