The login/authentication mechanism has been revamped, and should be a bit more flexible now. For example, you can set user without using cookies.
I've tried to also make it simpler, but it is still complex -- perhaps needlessly so, but I don't have the time to cut it down properly.
I'd also be glad if you could review it and try to find exploits -- this is very important!
