hello im asking everyone for advice regarding my future. first off i have only 1 requirement IM MOVING OUT IN JUNE! (i want out, its a small house)

i have firgured two options at this point.
1) military service. maybe ill join the usa marines, or army (i want to shot something, just to see if i can kill without emotion)
2) go to the local junior collage for 2 years and transfer to a collage
i didn't go straight to collage since i still don't have much of a clue on what i want to do and didn't want to waste my money
3) jc, then military, then collage with money
4) travel doing odd jobs here and there and fall into a never ending rutine

well if u can figure something out let me know. i have till june.....
also the only real goal i have is world unification...

brian aka sirus
42 is the answer and only u know the answer
ueo together we shall unite the world under 1 unified government. join or not just don't get in my way

One is not particularly advisable at this time. It's not like some times when you join knowing you're going to be very much overworked, but won't see actual war wounds. Today might be different. Whatever technology your country has, it won't prevent all casualities, injuries. And besides, war is emotional trauma no matter how unlikely certain people are willing to admit it. I've never seen the process of death. I'm guessing that you haven't either. And you'd probably want to keep it that way. Because if your side isn't dying, and the other side won't give up, go figure.

Two depends on what the junior college is. But, sure, why not? You'll learn new stuff, or at least get some things to put onto your resumé.

Four could be fun, but you'd better have a plan.

we can't decide for you, you have to decide yourself. If you can't figure out which to do, tally up the pros and cons of each.

I personally vote for Junior college

I wouldn't advise 1. If you only want to go into the military to see if you're tough enough to kill without emotion, then you most likley wont be able to be much help to your country. And, as Zeph said, seeing things die is not a pleasant experience. (Unless it's the dear you just shot and you're feeling really hungry and imagining how good it will taste) In addition, I certainly hope you cannot kill without feeling emotion. If you can, you're not at all human. You may be confusing "kill without breaking down in shock" and "kill without emotion". The first is bravery, the second is extreme inhumanity. Junior collage sounds like a good idea to me.

Well, of the options, 2 sounds best.

However, perhaps it would be best for you to work a while, save up some money, and sort out yourself before you do more education. What kind of skills do you have? I'm not talking about the kind of job where you flip burgers - I'd honestly suggest something with a good chance at learning new skills or, at the very least, advancement. It would be nice to go to college later on, but not until you know what you want to do and who you are.

As everyone else said, 1 doesn't sound too good. Many people join the army because they feel thay have no opportunities and want to make some money and get education. However, often they might not look at other options. I mean, do you really want to end up halfway across the world, removed from everything familiar to you, shooting people and getting shot at? With the current situation in the US, it is VERY likely that you would end up overseas in a hotbed of violence. You DO only live once, and would you really want to die/be seriously maimed far away from everything you know?

Right, that's enough serious talk for me:

Well I don't know about your motives for joining the army, Devari, but for me it would have to be the easy pay, the fulfilment of repressed violence, and loose women.

If you strongly feel like you should serve your country, then go for the army. But if you're going so they will pay for college, go for the National Guard (they offer the same, if not better, college benefits and you have less of a chance to be called). But ultimately, it's your decision.

Ereptor (long time player of RWL) said 'e has up and gone to Costa Rico to open up a shaved ice and surfshop from a '79 van.. ;)

the options are endless.. a guy in my english class last semester was a fisherman who decided that he didnt want to do it for the rest of his life, so he saved up and came to college..

decide on somthin you want to do and go for it.. or atleast point yourself in a general direction..

If you're interested in the military, join for 2 years. It gets you into college for free and makes you physical and mentally stronger (as long as you don't die). XD

IF you have the money, Choice 2.
