I know that this is off-topic, and I apologize if I annoy you. However, this topic is very personal for me. Read this link, and the pages linked from it:

Again, I apologize for being off-topic; it won't happen.

Well, that's some pretty good news.

Out of interest, how is this personal for you? You don't need to answer if you don't want. Don't want to pry or anything.

Myself, I lost the only two grandparents I had left to cancer.

Yes, indeed, it sounds like the answer to a long-sought question.

My father, when I was 13. I don't feel that either my mother or I have been quite all right ever since. It is a vague feeling, though.

I am sorry to hear about your grandparents. Thank goodness, my grandfather is healthy.

My grandfather was just diagnosed with colon cancer not too long ago... we thought he'd live to be 100. Pretty much everyone knows someone affected by cancer.

Yes, although I believe the statistic is higher here in America, than say in Eastern Europe where I am from.

Ouch. That's a bit harder to deal with than Grandparents - at least they had lived long lives. :(

Both my grandfathers died before I met them. My mom's father died 10 or so months before I was born. My dad had to deal with something a bit like you - his father died from Polio when Dad was only 5. His stepfather died young as well.

This has run in my father's branch of the family, although mainly among the females. It's quite likely that I have to watch out too.
It is a bit sad that you never met your grandparents, although -- maybe this is quite stupid -- it may be easier to deal with this way. I think I'm wrong though.

Sounds like a neat technology. I just hope that a viable treatment can be made from it.

Gondor, if you're really slasher's brother, why bother to say sorry to him, and on our forums? It's your granddad too, right? And you can't say it in real life? Or what is going on?
