Normally, the page that pops up after you spend your turns tells you what happened for each of those turns. It shows losses or gains in money, food, leaders, workers, troops, etc. When you condense them it only shows one box that combines all the gains and losses so that you don't have to calculate or scroll through all of the boxes to see the outcome.

It condenses the output of your turns. In short, if you turn it off you will get stats for every single turn.

It is strongly suggested you leave it on! :D
If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone
It's a lovely day in the woods today, but safer to stay at home

Normally if you explore for 20 turns it will show how much food cash etc you net for each turn. Condensing turns totals up the net effect of all 20 turns and shows only that to you.

It's just a feature to make it easier for you to get an idea of how much resources, troops, and mana you gain when you spen a chunk of turns.
I know the voices in my head arn't real but they usually have some pretty good ideas.
