Hi folks,
Well, this topic comes up again and again. How do we get more players? The answer, of course, is advertising; however, we already have known that for months.
What I'm asking now is that we take this seriously. Have a website you frequent? Post a link to us! If the forum rules disallow advertising topics, put it in your signature.
The first market groups we need to hit are the established Promisance games. QMT, Valhall, the list goes on. It's best, of course, if the ads come from active members of a community. The key is expanding our horizons - trying to get players from a single isolated base will fail miserably.
The Promisance community is only so large, however. In order to really grow, we will need to branch out into other groups of web strategy games. We run into a roadblock, however...
Simply put, Promisance can be confusing for beginners. FAF is more so! Therefore, we need a solid game guide and superb newbie guide. I'm not talking about the kind of strategy things that people have posted in the Academy; I'm talking about something that tells you how to manage your empire, from building, to stocks, to simply using turns. Only then can we truly find and retain new players.
Any volunteers?

Eh, FAF is the only promisance game I play. I can put it in my sig in the Kings of Chaos forum and/or in the adult swim forums. The only thing is that anybody that would sign up would be a complete newbie.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
heh, FAF attracted me by coming to LO and talking smack
that is how i ended up here.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

I like FAF very much. It is one of the only promisance games I play (In fact it probably is right now but won't be soon because I have now finished school [yay] and will be playing others). I see the Ragnarok link has been removed... Why? I would be intrested inb becoming an Affiliate if that would be possible. However I think most of the people on S&G are from FAF (apart from a few school friends).

I'm voting both places. I'm not on many sites, but I will advertise where I can. I could maybe do something for a newbie guide. I wrote up a basic guide on attacking, I can post it, if you want. I could do something on hawks, and maybe guide to what is probably the most basic strat out there, hawk strating. Not much to figure out. Build huts, loot/forage, buy troops, attack, sell troops, build more huts, repeat.

Hawk is still iffy, though. Most people would not like to see the massive resource losses/turn. Goes against their sensibilities, you know.

True... What is a simple strat that doesn't go against people's sensibuilities, however? Most strats, other then cashing, have you loosing cash. If they don't, they're generally not efficient... Anyway, after reading your other post, I'll get my Attacking Guide up.Devari wrote: Hawk is still iffy, though. Most people would not like to see the massive resource losses/turn.
