Well, the idea is to make the towers much more powerful to actually make them useful while adding siege engines to counter them... So if we make the towers 5x stronger it would then take 12,500,000 Mice to = 10,000 towers. Now this is where you add your siege engines to counter the towers. And to be honest I would suggest making it around 1000 siege engines for 10 Billion Dollars.

What would the loss rate for Siege Weapons be? That's an important thing to note, because it can definitely make or break a strat.

What I would do is have the attack/defense be 0, but throw in the ability to destroy more building, because unless you allow Siege Weapon pairing for any battle type (Mice + Siege, Hare+Siege), then the only time they would be useful is in a standard, which along with the increase in tower defense would make towers unstoppable in anything but standard attacks. If you allow siege engines to also help increase destruction of buldings in standards, then you could soften up your opponent enough to damage them without standards. Also with a high loss rate, then you would simply have to stop attacking with them at this point anyways.

Of course if they're destroying towers, then perhaps it wouldn't ignore the defense of towers and simply lower it.

I like Veranor's idea. Have an attack that only uses Seige Engines which destroys buildings of any type, but mainly towers (or maybe it destroys towers until they don't have any more, then goes on to other buildings). Of course the attack would have to be countered by something, Guard towers would kill of some of them, but is that it? That way you'd have to have towers if you didn't want all of your structures destroyed.

Siege towers wouldn't increase captured land (or if they did it would be minor), they'd simply destroy buildings, and convert them back to free acres.

Plus with the high cost, it would simply not be practicaly to mass solely siege engines. You'd get whooped.

But you are right, there are definitely some issues with balancing and testing if we add a new unit that would be quite different.

If you could destroy buildings while capturing land that would be great because the next time you attacked you would get a higher percentage of the land that is not built on! You know... (unused land you get a higher percentage of when you attack..)

Exactly. Soften them up with artillery and then move in for the kill. Just like real warfare.
