Cheaper than Black Market
Has anyone else become sick of always seeing insane prices for troops on the Public Market, such as $1000 for just one mouse? It'd be profitable to sell them for half that much! Because of this, I've decided to start selling troops for cheap on the Public Market. The current prices are listed below.
Mice: $350
Squirrels: $700
Hares: $1400
Otters: $2100
Food: $17
You may realize that these prices are cheaper than BM prices, so make sure you check the PM first if you're thinking of buying troops or food (talking to you, people that agra or hawk). I know there aren't many troops on there now, but more will come soon. Especially if you keep buying.

Ohhh.... I get it now. Good thinking. I think maybe I should get on this deal. Clan member cash is better than enemy cash.
But you must remember that many people want to keep their troops as well.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

Usualkly when people price troops that high, it's because they want to keep them.Nohc wrote: Has anyone else become sick of always seeing insane prices for troops on the Public Market, such as $1000 for just one mouse?

There are 2 strats he could be using. Either reselling or indy. Reselling involves a race with a high market bonus building keeps to get the lowest BM price possible. You then buy on the BM and sell on the PM. Indy's of course just make the troops themselves and sell them on the PM.

Anyway go down to the strat section and check out reseller strat for more info on it. Profits will probably be a bit limited due to the lack of a race with a decent market bonus but since not many people sell on PM I think he might make up for it in volume.
Nohc: If your reselling there's a few changes I would make to the base strat to compensate for 2 significant changes to FAF code. One change is being able to fit 90% of troops on the PM the other is cash from PM sells goes into bank. Because of these 2 things there's no real danger of a mage ripping you a new one. Cash is safe in bank and troops are on PM so they have nothing to destroy.
Since there is no danger from a mage you could go with much fewer MT and more keeps. The benefit to this is it will increase the number of troops on your BM and also how fast it refills. Make sure you have spell shields cast though, just in case.
In this case I think I would probably go 90% keeps 10% MT.
Also you may want to make sure you won't get auto-deleted since you won't use many turns after you get set up. Some servers delete empires that haven't used any turns in X amount of time.
EDIT: Now that I'm thinking about it if you can put 90% of your troops on PM then upkeep shouldn't be too bad. You could probably still run turns without draining your resources.
2nd EDIT: If reselling your prices are probably too cheap. I could be wrong but by my drunk calculations you'll pay $1314 for a hare and sell it for 1400 with a 5% PM commission giving you a profit of $16. 1.2% profit margins not gonna get you very big. My base prices as a gnome are usually $400, $800, $1,600, $2,400 but considering your BM prices will be a little higher than a regular gnome you might want to go a tad higher.

I'll say this much, barring everything else it's better to resell on CoG than BfR. In either case you'll do about as well yourself, but other strats will be weaker in comparison.
Reselling is not as powerful on FAF because, yes, we have no Gnome-like race (-24%!). However, it is still possible to buy hares for $1053 using a Hedgehog. (.7 * 1600 * .94). Selling at 1400 with a 5% market commission is a profit of $277. (1400 * .95 - 1053 = 277, if it took 5% off profit it wouldn't be so bad). With that kind of profit you would need to sell 3,610,108 hares to make a billion.

Oh you're right I forgot BM prices are a little cheaper here.Veranor wrote: I'll say this much, barring everything else it's better to resell on CoG than BfR. In either case you'll do about as well yourself, but other strats will be weaker in comparison.

I am actually curious to see how well a reseller would do here. The lack of a gnome race hurts but being able to run without upkeep killing you could make up the difference. With all the farmers here it may very well be quite successful to resell despite the lack of a huge discount.
26% profit is not so bad either. Not quite as high as you'd like but it's still high enough to grow reasonably well.

yeah, we use redwall races here, and hawk missions instead of magic, and huts instead of Mage towers, and so on... so the guide you have is for some other prom game, but it could still be useful since it's still a prom guide... but it's a redwall prom game just so you know... we won't have goblins and gnomes or whatever running around here...
oh yeah, and I didn't want to make a new post, so look bacwards...)
also, he said "lack of a gnome race hurts" not gnome like...
OMJ16: Point being? *laughs*, I was just commenting (I won't bother trying to follow what they are sayingI believe they are talking about the different race percentages and the code about the differing BM prices.

He means a race with that kind of bonus, not anything with that kind of name. He's writing that guide for LO, but I believe he said he was going to adapt it for us.Kyrodo wrote: yeah, we use redwall races here, and hawk missions instead of magic, and huts instead of Mage towers, and so on... so the guide you have is for some other prom game, but it could still be useful since it's still a prom guide... but it's a redwall prom game just so you know... we won't have goblins and gnomes or whatever running around here...

Ruddertail is correct. After the guide is finished I will change a few things for FAF code. Main things would be MT, races, units, building names, modification of a few strats to compensate for 90% PM sttuffing, and heroes.
I will probably send a modified version to a few servers when I'm done. FAF will probably be the first one it gets exported to. BTW modified version will not be a link, will post the full version of the guide here.
