prod market (self) <- What exactly does this do? The message after you cast the spell isn't descriptive at all. I thought it might lower costs, but it doesn't seem to have affected costs at all.
recruit (self) <- This is supposed to bring in more workers, correct? Does it ever actually work? I've tried it several times since I started and it always just gives 0 new workers.
seppuku (self) <- A web search on the term tells me it means ritual suicide, but is that really what it's for in this game? You can kill yourself off for only about twice the cost of most of the other spells?
move north/south <- I assume these are to move you forward/backward through the ages so that you can get the different bonuses for the different ages and/or so you can attack players in that age without having to prepare hawks first?

EDIT: While we're on the subject, the spell data from the in-game guide link is buggy:
Scout  Opens a gate into the other time periods.
Heal  Closes an open time gate to other time periods.
Recruit  Does battle with your magic users.
If successful, you gain 7% of their occupied land, 10% of their undeveloped land, lose 9% of your Hawks, and destroy 6% of your enemy's Hawks.
If unsuccessful, you suffer a 10% loss and your enemy suffers a 5% loss.
Prod Market  Steals 10% - 15% of your enemy's cash and gives it to you.
Advance to Next Era  Advances you from the past to present or present to future.
Scout brings in land, heal increases health, recruit supposedly recruits workers, prod market can't target an enemy because it's only available as a self spell, and there is no advance to next era spell (that one's clearly a holdover from the original promisance code), although the move north/south spells sound like they're for that purpose.

Seppuku - This kills all your troops (I think it kills some workers) and some hawks.
Recruit doens't work for me either.
Move north/south - This moves you around. Each place has its own good and bad things.
Not sure what Prod Market does.

Don't consult the guide yet. We are still working on it.

Seppuku-Kills all of your military, some workers, and some Hawks.
Prod Market-Lets you sell more troops on the Bazzar and buy a few more.
Recruit-Brings workers (or military, forgot which) to your empire. It works.
Move North (South)-If you are in Mossflower and move "north" you will be in the Northlands. If you chose to move south, you will be in Southsward.
Kills from all Promi games: 55

The recruit spell says "workers" when you cast it, but it never seems to actually bring back any (even though it says it was successful). It always says something to the effect: "our hawks have cast the spell successfully, they have recruited 0 workers!" and the number recruited is always 0.

btw Why would anyone ever want to cast seppuku? If you want to get rid of some troops because they're costing too much or whatever, why not sell them and get some cash for your troubles?

You can not always sell them all. Usually you'd sell all you can on the bazaar and market, then commit Seppuku to get rid of the remnants.

I'll look into recruit; but I can tell you it won't bring in any more workers than you can currently house. If you're losing workers; it won't bring any in.

When I cast it, I was getting several hundred workers per turn, running out of space/housing wasn't the problem.

I thought recruit only brought in troops, and it only brought in troops if you had at least one barrack on your land... I guess I'm probably wrong, but that's just what I thought...
