One last thing, to play mp3 files with rhythmbox, you must in YAST, search for 'mp3'. Then there will be a package like gstreamer-plugins-extra-mad or whatever. Install that.

... I love my rhythmbox!

I'm finally doing the sudo apt-get dist-upgrade on ubuntu. Soon I'll know whether or not (K)ubuntu 5.10 is crap or not. I've tried a beta of the package manager they are supposed to be using, and it was an unstable, memory-hogging mess. What's more, installing it broke the only good graphical apt frontend offered by ubuntu, Synaptic.

Kubuntu 5.10 kinda sucks. Absolutely no tangible improvement. I guess I'll go ahead and try SUSE.

Or Arch. :D
But SUSE is much more polished, obviously. Indeed the only tangible benefit I see to using Arch as opposed to SUSE is the Arch Build System. And maybe there's an equivalent for that using SUSE.

A surprise:
- I installed knemo but can't find the binary...

My bad, looking at the .desktop file reveals that you must execute:

kcmshell kcm_knemo

oh well...

Ug... I did the internet install. BIG MISTAKE! Took forever.

But now... I'm IN! SUSE! YES! :D

I'll give my impressions in a little bit.

kinternet doesn't like me. :(

Hey, are you using KDE now? That would be surprising, seeing as you've always been a more XFCE chappy.

(By the way, I'll get back to your PM during the next couple days. Just to let you know I recieved it and am not ignoring it. ;))

SUSE's KDE is so appealing and polished, 'twould be madness not to! :D And I'm liking it v. muchly.

Thanks for the note about the PM.

Don't worry about kinternet, once you get it, or it gets you, everything will always be groovy. I can attest to that. Again :D

P.S. Use LILO. It's gorgeous.

Ooh, I haven't tried the LILO yet.

SUSE's KDE is so responsive, professional, and polished, I'm surprised I ever got by on Kubuntu! No way I'm going back! Heh, good thing I consolidated a bunch of residual partitions and gave SUSE quite a bit of disk space. I should get rid of Kubuntu ASAP. I swear, SUSE's KDE is as responsive as Ubuntu's XFCE! It flys on my old (1.1 GHz Celeron, 256 RAM) clunker. I wonder what it would be like on a brand new Thinkpad?!

I'll have to look into this kinternet buisness. :)

The amazing thing is, QT-GTK actually works, and works well! On Kubuntu, it was glaringly obvious when you were using it.

Yeah, what with scrollbars accidentally covering the lower of the two scroll buttons in 'Plastik'... ah well. Not to mention it crashed my X on Arch. SUSE 0wnz j00.
