Ideas that are to be implemented eventually; accepted suggestions.

Hey, we'd be glad of images. And anyway that's just my personal opinion, if several staffers think otherwise, then their idea will count. I considered this whole topic as a messing around with ideas/input kind of thing.

Idea: Advanced options add animations or image option, but have plain images set to the default. Also as a suggestion all images need to have the classic timeless look. (Not like the anime looking ones on RWL) I personally would like to see the images something along the lines of the first market one though 3d looking ones such as: Image would also work very nicely.

Also, going back to the idea of battle animations... I actually think this would be a very cool idea (though weather or not it would be possible is still in question). As far as hosting the movies I might be able to provide it... though it would only be for the movies and not for the entire game of course. The battle animations I think would need to be something like the ones from the risk game. (anybody ever played it? if not I can try to find a video). But basically its groups of units fighting with varying size depending on the scale of the battle.

p.s. sorry if this stuff is unreadable I'm up really late and I need to go to bed...

I've played the risk game on PS2.

I'd be willing to help out with the battle animations.

Animations would be cool so long as there is an option to switch them for images or make it plain text based in manage like I keep saying :P

Any idea what the sizes need to be in pixels?

Hey Lucus (er squeakytoad), do you think you could make a quick sample animation so we could get a feel for how it would look?

Hey, I've recently had some inspiration on the images department.... How is this one for scouting? Image Personally I think the picture needs hills in the front with a forest in back... Now exactly what I did was I took a picture and used adobe photoshop to make a highly detailed watercolor (well I did a few more things but that is basicly it). It seems to me that if we could find/take/make enough original pictures we could make some really neat watercolor images such as the one above... Opinions anybody?

Edit: Oh, here is yet another idea. What if we changed the image displayed based on your location (northlands, mossflower, ect...). Like for the northlands we could have axes crossed (for attacking) and in mossflower we could have crossed swords while in the southsward we would have a bow and arrows. Another example is when scouting the type of terrain would change with you location starting with the cold harsh northlands, lush deciduous mossflower and the semi tropical southsward.

Hm.... Very interesting. Can you try scaling it down a bit? I'd like to see how well it works at a slightly smaller size...

Good idea about changes between region.

Thanks for your work! :)

Hm...

The quality kinda went to hell when you did that. It's not too bad, but it isn't great either. The quality of the image, that is.

Have you tried scaling down the original image and then applying the filter? I think that the image size is quite good, although you may be able to get away with something larger.

Corban: yes, the timeless look is quite important, I think the Majesty pic is the best (least sterile). But for scouting, your image is quite excellent (although grainy now).

squeakytoad: Hum, no idea presents itself very obviously. How about an animation for some hawk spells like feast or loot?

Ok, I did 2 things to the picture.

Option 1 is: Image

All I did to this one was downsize it and leave it in the jpeg format (changing it to gif was a bad idea)

Option 2 is: Image

In this one I went back to the original picture and downsized it and then applied the watercolors.

Also I can change all sorts of options so if there is something small in it I can edit it. (i.e. lightening shadows or making detail greater or less by applying the water colors when the image is at a set size).

Corban... why aren't you a member of jakooldesigns? *laughs*. Personally I think the "Option 1" is the best.
