Just use the phrase "infected with DRM" frequently to your friends. Someone on slashdot mentioned this. If the masses vaguely think DRM is something evil (which it is) and not something good to prevent the starving kids of artists, then DRM might never take off.
[edit]Cfelicio: I haven't researched the matter muchl but I understand that that could make a stolen passport much more valuable than it is now.

imho redundant and meaningless
the only point of any interest is that sony had the utter gall (and/or complete ignorance) to think of using rootkit software as part of a drm scheme.. as if the drm isnt getting enough bad press
use of kern hooking for hiding teh hax is old news and does not have any new security implications.. a whole lot of sensationalism if you ask me
it doesnt add to worm propogation any more than tftp.exe or other assorted common tools used by worms
in fact less so as tftp.exe allows for network communication
ps speaking of back doors: Urran is teh legal

Try RootKit Revealer (http://www.sysinternals.com)
Not so simple to use, but it reveal scary things.

depends on which linux
Fedora has a repo called livna that has about all the graphics drivers (with 3D accel.) for ati and nvidia cards, including the mobility (laptop) ones
my ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 runs UT2004 just fine
better, infact, than windows does (running off the same hdd)
and if its a desktop card its fairly easy to find the drivers.. I think even ati carries the drivers on their site, you just have to poke around..

Indeed. If you don't install a version of Linux that pays meticulous attention to ensuring your hardware works well, you won't get very far with the hardware. For example, this is why you probably want to run a major distro as opposed to small/niche ones like Arch. So try Fedora, or SUSE, or Ubuntu (Mandriva has some issues still).

'was right I was, though 's not so much a good thing for windows usersVirus Writers Exploit Sony Anti-Piracy Software
I'm going to take a guess that sony is regretting this step
though, then again there are thoes who went out and purchased sony disks so they could get the rootkit-like thing and use it :*laughs*:
