On *NIX, you can move a file opened by another process and nobody will complain. You can also delete a running executable. (Great fun with sudo /bin/rm /bin/rm :D). I know you can't do the latter on Windows, but can you do the former on Windows, i.e. move a file that's for example downloading?

I don't think so. I believe it gives out a message to the effect that the file is in use.

Haven't used Windows for a while, except for setting up a USB keyboard yesterday for someone.

It´s very funny when someone is testing a program release and you compile it again on the same folder. I receive some phone calls when I do that! *laughs*! :)
