I started my run with a cupple billion in my bank account.
I run 450 turns without withdrawing it.
I did not gain even $1.

Maybe it was over your savings limit -- in that case, you don't earn interest.

I just tried it out on the admin account, and savings do seem to work, so my bet's on that.

You don't earn instreat when you are over the limit? That's no fun. In a real bank you still would.

HAH!

[edit] Sorry, had to rush in the morning. I meant to say that no bank would let your cash grow infinitely either. They'd start charging fees for something or other eventually. The nice little story about depositing a nickel in the bank, going into stasis, and emerging the richest man in existence 500 years later just ain't true -- you'd be miles above your head in debt. In fact you'd probably just go back to stasis. :P

Something tells me Beatles doesn't think much of that idea...

But he's right. In a real bank, you wouldn't probably have limits, either. But this isn't a real bank, nor is FAF a real life simulater.

The reason you can't earn interest over the limits is that if you could, somebody on only a small amount of land could deposit, say, 50 Bil (A hawker could get that much) and earn massive interest on it, thus making it more a cash generater then a bank.

How would you put that much in a bank?

It's not changing, that's final. The reason was probably what Rudder mentioned -- you could just use it passively to accrue insane amounts of wealth over time.
