I just got my lowest score ever. Apparently the game does not like you starting a nuclear holocaust!

*laughs*. Any advice on my problem though? It says the conflict exe file is not suitable for running an MS-DOS program.

Hm... No idea.

Is it possible to defeat Egypt without nuking them? It was only Egypt and I left, but I found myself losing. I nuked 'em, and ended up destroying the world in the process.

Volky: try running it on a Windows XP system.

Devari: militarily, I've only defeated Egypt once or twice. Politically (internal undermining) a few times. Libya defeated them once. To be honest, I lost many games, and ended up causing a nuclear holocaust in several others. So best advice: keep tryin'!

It's a fun game.

A major bug in the game has robbed me of my ultimate victory. I was one or two months away from finishing off Egypt. I managed to turn the tide of the war, but the game doesn't seem to go past August 2001 - just locks up, saying that it is "Thinking"...

Damn, and that was going to be my ultimate accomplishment! Everyone else was either conquered by me or collapsed.

I've never had that issue, and I've certainly gone past that date (although not necessarily with this version).

Drat! I just got the same message, in a very nearly identical position to yours. I had caused all governments save Egypt to collapse/be invaded, and had a huge force (2 aid shipments from the US) ready to invade Egypt, and that with its stability very low. Now it's "Thinking..?"

Not in Aug 2001 btw.

Yeah, I got past August in another game. It just seems to lock up if you are beating the crap out of Egypt.

Looks like the only way to deal with Egypt is nukes!

then its easy

just tell it to run the program in DOS mode (create a shortcut somewhere, your desktop preferred, right click, and look for the option.. I know its there, I just forget and I'm in Fedora right now.. )

I DID IT!

Conquered Syria and Jordan, and, by extension, Lebanon and Iraq. Iran fell into turmoil. Egypt conquered Libya.

But I managed to undermine the Egyptian government to the point it fell without the game locking up!

So, with every single state except Israel in a state of anarchy, I won:
