Eh, just make an account and do some stuff on your own for now. I should have enough points to make the alliance later today. Just so you know, I'll be the leader and you four will the the advisers.

Alright, will do.

Made the account. Weird system, but I think I'm doing alright. Seeya in the alliance.

Realm 4 seems easier because of it's higher growth rate, I think. I think I've got a good starting strat down if anyone wants some guidance.

Alright, I made the alliance, but there's a lame game rule that you can't join until you have 150 points. You can check your score by clicking on "Players" under "Statistics" on the toolbar, and then search for me (Nohcnonk) on the same screen and click on my alliance name to join.

First of all, they have a guide with practically everything (http://www4.imperiaonline.org/imperia/g ... ual_en.htm) in it and a helpful forum (http://www.xaoc-bg.com/imperia/phpbb/) where you can ask questions. Very newb friendly.

Early on you shouldn't worry about army and concentrate on economy and growth. First build a couple levels of granary until it gets relatively expensive so that you get more people. Then I'd work your way to building a level 1 fortress. To get a fortress you'll need a level 4 farm, lv. 4 woodmill, and lv. 2 stonemill. Whenever you log in, tell your new workers to work making some sort of resource. If you don't they will produce money, but at a very slow rate. Tell your workers to make whatever you need and try to even their production out so that you'll have enough resources to build the next structure as soon as possible. You won't need much iron for a while, do don't worry about that.

After your fortress you'll probably want to research a level of University, which unlocks a bunch of techs (and makes all techs slightly cheaper for each level that you've researched). The first one that I would get is Trade. It lowers the market commission to 30% on the first level, effectively increasing how much money you get for selling resources, which is the best way to make money early on (before you're attacking). The default costs for each resource are as follows:

1 Wood = 0.5G
1 Iron = 2.5G
1 Stone = 1.0G

So if you need money and can sell wood for .6G and the others are normally priced, try to sell wood and have your workers switch production to make up for the lost goods. I wouldn't advise buying resources since it's horribly inefficient. After getting trade, it'll be a lot easier to research more stuff since researching takes a lot more money than building. Feel free to browse and find out what the other techs do.

That's plenty for today, I'll talk about military tomorrow.

Edit: All of this I've only learned over the past week, so it may not be the best idea... It's just the best idea I could think of. ^_^

I'm way past that man. I have at least one level of all researches and I've started building an army. But for some good suggestions for starting out, read the short guide and then later the long(complete) guide.

I should have 150 soon, I'm in the 90's right now.

Well, I haven't had any military success as of now. I attacked someone with about 100 swordsmen, 300 archers, and 600 spearmen. They all died horribly (I'm talking I lost almost all of mine and they lost 3 or 4) when I tried to do a fortress seige against someone who I presume had 400 archers in their fortress. I'm not sure if I should try pillaging (you need at least 10% of the enemy's people to do this, but you don't have to take down the fortress, just win the field battle) or if I should try a fortress seige again but with battering rams this time (I just got tactics).

Of course, since you don't pay for troops in your fortress I'd fill it up with archers (they get a 4x strength bonus). Also, you can research centralization and train 500 spearmen and colonize a new province. It's like having two accounts. ^_^

That's what I'm doing right now. Building up me some Spearmen to go get another province. I have my swordsmen in my fortress, cause they cost more than archers and spears. Right now I have 600 troops total. Points are now in the 120's.

I a little trick... I dunno if you guys noticed it, but you don't pay for troops that you are still training. As long as you have enough training groups, you can neglect to mobilize your troops until you need them.

Edit: Medicine is a good investment too. It has the effect of about 5 levels of granary.

Yeah, I should have just left them alone, but I need 500 and I only have the capacity for 200 at a time.

Yeah, the actual buildings that house the troops are pretty cheap actually, and military academy isn't that bad.

I got attacked today. Lucky, they just targeted my troops. To bad they didn't go for the fort. Would have been good for me.
