Israel Hit After Beirut Strikes

Rockets fired from Lebanon hit the northern Israeli town of Safed on Thursday, hours after Israeli planes bombed Beirut International Airport. The escalation in violence came as Israel expanded its military campaign against Hezbollah guerrillas who kidnapped two Israeli soldiers.

Sounds like someone means business here.

*laughs*.

like i have said, Israel does one little thing and everything that the Palestinians have done is shadowed. your wrong nukey. everytime there is a cease fire: BOOM! another Islamic idiot blows himself up in a market. but! your not going to focus on that are you? no.......BAD BAD ISRAEL!

*laughs*!

hey! there is a giant cheeseburger in the back yard!

now, Israel is whoopin up on Lebanon for kidnapping two Israeli soldiers.

i guess that is Israels fault too.
Lets evaluate this, 2 groups have been warring for a billion years and I say both are at fault, you say one is innocent and the other is to blame for all of it, and I'm the one that needs to open my eyes. Does that sound right to you? If you see a couple fight every single minute they're together are you gonna think that only one side is to blame or that both do it because they love it?

Actually I have a question for you, Clinton (I know I already lost your attention) helped broker a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine. The Israeli PM who signed it was promptly assassinated by an Israeli right wing extremist. My question to you is this: Was he mind controlled by a Palestinian, brain washed by a Palestinian, or did a Palestinian inhabit his body? It has to be something like that, because surely Israel would never do anything wrong, and even Rush Limbaugh himself couldn't construe that assassination as a positive thing. Seriously, there is no way anyone could ever say anything about that other than that Israeli people did not want peace. Again, I don't think all Palestinians want is peace either, both sides are equally responsible for the violence.

Another question, an Israeli helicopter fires a missile into a crowded marketplace and kills 12 or a Palestinian suicide bomber blows himself up in a market and kills 12, would you view that as equally bad?

Go look at some pictures and point out exactly which ones are ragheads. Most of the pictures I see they arn't wearing one. I think your confusing them with another people.

...I think you both are right to some degree. Both are to blame, yet in this instance...

At worst there could be another war, but really, I'm historically cynical. It won't get to nukes.

Do they even have nuclear weapons? I don't think so. If this does escalate. My money is on Isreal. Who, despite their size, has a pretty damn good army.

We have supplied Israel with enough nuclear capabilities, guns, tanks, planes, bombs, etc to mop up the region in no time. It will be a massacre. Technically war has not been declared, but it's not much different from a regular war. The only difference is instead of invading it's an "incursian" and instead of POW's they're called "hostages".

Anyway if you want links here you go:

Israeli missile hits refugee camp killing 3 (ages 5,7, and 16)

Missile strikes kill a woman and 2 of her kids

Missile kills a woman, injures another pregnant woman and several children

Israeli airstrikes take out medical workers and children

It's kinda hard to find any of the older stuff since the latest flare-up, but there was some decent debate material produced before the last cease-fire. (Ya know, the one that Hamas started)

EDIT: Which country has had the most UN resolutions passed against it? Here's a hint, it's more than every single nation in the entire world COMBINED.

Today the US Vetoed a resolution calling for Israel to leave Palestine, militants to give up the hostage soldier, militants to stop firing rockets, and condemning Israel's "disproportionate use of force" against civilians.

By the way, Nuke, it is actually possible in a long-term conflict for only one side to be the aggressor, although it's rare, because usually the aggressor side is stronger, and wins. However, France serves as a not-entirely-too-bad example: it was among the first victims in both World Wars and the Franco-Prussian war, yet was not really much of an agressor. In the latter, she lost resoundingly but was able to keep home rule, and in the latter two it was only that the UK/US bailed her out.

Look, this topic started out polite enough but now it's getting nasty. Practically only you two are arguing, so take it to the PMs, email, or even the chat. Just not here.

Beatles those were relatively short term conflicts. The Israel/Palestine conflict has been going on for forever.

Kraken: Just doing my part to show that both sides are involved.

Nuke, the conflicts lasted 1870-1945. Israel has only existed since 1949 IIRC. I grant you that the frequency of conflicts is higher in the Middle East, but otherwise my point is valid.

Ahh I hadn't realized that, I thought it was a few isolated flare-ups. The nation of Israel is relatively new but the people were having conflicts with Palestinians since Biblical times.

In light of this topic I thought it would be appropriate to say "He started it, it's all his fault. I'm just retalling what he did first." :P

Don't know how I missed that post originally.
