My guess is they have at least 100-150 empires out of protection, a formidable number. 262 active players includes those in protection. It's like the very old days at RWL and TSOR except twice as good.

Yes there are a lot of players, it makes for a nice game

But killing being against the rules is somewhat not true! Last age when we had the personal wars feature enabled there was a group of players that acted like stalkers that liked to kill people as they came out of player protection. They seemed to think that massing kills this way was some sort of status symbol. Like it was some sort of great accomplishment or something. It turned away many new players and caused other players to goto war against the stalkers. It was a huge mess.

This age personal wars has been disabled but clan war is still an option and works the same as always.

It is sad that a feature of a game must be disabled due to lack of maturity level of its players, but I guess that is they way things go

Players simply could not distinguish between a simple land grab and an act of war. So everything was a war. We probably could have coined a new site slogan from it, "Welcome to Medieval Empires where you wake up dead!" It was a joke and was pretty pathetic really.

But yes clan wars still exist and killing is part of the game to some extent, much like here at FAF.
