Anti-Camping Idea

First of all, this should only be implemented if people think camping is a problem, and even then only as a config switch that can be enabled. I personally think it's a problem.
Suppose you get X turns per Y minutes. Then for every Y minutes you are online (invalidated if you log off), you don't gain turns, but it costs you X/2 turns. This wouldn't hinder 98% of users more than 5-10 turns per a run of 450, which is nothing.
Of course, a simple circumvention for a camper is to refresh his/her profile page to see whether he/she is being killed.
So I just wish to throw the suggestion out, and perhaps someone'll come up with a good proposal.

While thats all fair enough but what if you want to wait a bit for more turns to heal or something, or what if you're in chat with someone or having a conversation via the message system?windhound wrote: nah.. no loss of turns for being online. this penilizes the newbies who take a while to make a run
yes, no turns while being marked as online

its called planning ahead
you should have thought about healing before you used all your turns
having a chat over the ingame message system is.. kinda ick. give them your msn, aim, yahoo, google, whatever screen name and chat there
the amount of turns you would actually lose (at the rate woa gives them) is not really substancial, but the loss of thoes turns may deter people from hanging around online
an extra idea: when you espi somone it should state if they are online (even if they are not marked as such)

Hobbs FTW!
Why penalise people for being online? Withholding turns while someone is online would hurt, say, a newbie who keeps checking around the game, trying to learn how it works.

If anything, set a time limit and don't tell anyone about it. Say, You can't be online for more that 1 hour without logging out. Just force a log out. Or limit login to 10 times a day. "You have 9 logins left" *Shrug*

You are forgetting that we fit the definition of camping as well, under your rules, when playing duels or some such. I think a better idea would be if someone was on more the 6 hours out of a 12 hour period, they should be logged out and not let back on for a minimum of 24 hours. That is the answer to camping in my opinion.

You do realize that I use F5 when I attack. And I don't always do <10 attacks in one shot.Slasher wrote: Just kick them off if they have refreshed the same page, say 10 times, that prevents auto refresher thingies, otherwise the person may actually be active

I'm not forgetting that. I think our behaviour, too, should be penalized.Gen.
