Well, just wondering... I never got my original of Thief: The Dark Project that I bought off eBay for 10p a few years ago to work on Winblowz eXPee Crapessional 'cause its old and something conflicts with eXPee. I know there are patches etc etc etc on the internet but I couldn't be bothered to mess around too much.

However my question is, is there any way I could get it to run on SuSE via WINE or anything? Is there anything I should try before I try something else?

cedega gives it a 5 star playability.. I'm assuming that means it works. however, cedega is not free. does bittorrent have it? probably.
personally, I dont like taking from what is already mostly free

but yeah. cedega should work

If you search on google for a website that is called (in one word) by an amalgamation of the name of a linux mascot and a common term for pirated software, and you click on the second link down, you may find what you are looking for. No more help from me, though.

Seems somethings up with "drivers" or whatever you call them in suse *laughs*... only problem is I wouldn't know where to start on updating them....... Maybe somewhere in YaST? I don't want to bust it again.... so I wont mess :P

SuSe is not legally allowed to provide nice, spiffy drivers for your vid card. thus, for the most part, no 3D accel. means no shiny games
this is where extra repos come in handy, as they nicely give out theses spiffy packages

livna is the main one for Fedora
Beatles / Devari can hopefully give you one for SuSe

what video card you have would be helpful as well

edit: asdf.

Yes, in Yast. Go to graphics card configuration, enable 3d acceleration, and hit "Test". If it doesn't display correctly, you can kill the test with Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. If it does, it'll tell you what you can do. Then save the configuration, logout, login.

Also note, you may need to install nvidia drivers for this if your card is a nvidia. I think you do that by searching for the nvidia drivers in the yast package installer, but to be honest I don't remember that anymore, I did it such a long time ago.

As for OpenGL, I think you can also set that in the graphics card configuration, some option called "Direct GL Rendering" or whatever. In the very worst case, I know how to do it by editing the config file, but there's no need to do that (never had to under SUSE except when I wanted to disable a touchpad mouse).

Hmm, I got Graphics Card & Monitor but I can't see anything in there about enabling 3d acceleration :( maybe I'm going blind or something :/

It's there, somewhere. It should be a checkbox directly on that page, greyed out if you haven't installed nvidia yet.

Seems them instructions must be for an older version or something as the other is totally different... anyways I tried still and it kept giving me an MD5 checking error... I was just wondering if theres a way to temp. disable the md5 hash check thingy??
