I tried to solve yours, Kraken, but got a contradiction. It seems yours adds the criterion: "The Blends smoker lives next to the one who drinks water.", not present in the original.

Ok heres what I got going off Kraken's version:

first house=norwegian, cats, water, dunhill, yellow

2nd=danish, horses, tea, blends, blue

3rd= british, birds, milk, pallmall, red

4th= german, fish, coffee, prince, green

5th= swedish, dogs, beer, blue masters, white

Ditto (didn't look at it too closely); the solution is unique. My problem was actually misinterpreting "left" for "right". Or anyway I got a direction switcheroo there that was wrong. Trying the other way fixed it.
