Is there any good reason to delete idle user accounts? Even if we do decide to mark them inactive, there are gentler ways of doing so than deleting all the account info.

I will go ahead and make a change in the next few days (it's an issue that bothers me personally, because of the recent debacle), but which one shall it be:
* eliminate idle checking entirely (configurable, of course)
or
* just make the idle-setting process less destructive and easily restorable by an admin

Perhaps place idling accounts on vaccation? Or in a seperate category from which they emerge just by logging in? That way, they get off the scores page (I'm very glad we don't have all the left to idle accounts clogging up the WoA scores) but are easily recovered.

I'd do that. Remove them from scores and leave them sit somewhere. When they log in again, they become active.

I like Rudder's idea.

Ahh, so that's why, to not clutter. That is a simple fix then. Just set an inactive flag, and remove them from scores and top10. :) Will do soon.

What is really needed it when an account is about to be expired, send an email message letting the account holder know that they need to login. Some people just lose track of time and forget that the account will idle away.

p.s - does the code already do this? I can remember right now...

No, it doesn't. But that's not enough -- just an additional bonus, at most.
