Don't be afraid to use the multitude of great GUI software that there is available. You can become a command-line junkie like Beatles later.

actually it is rather surprising windows didnt boot right up, given it was in an acceptible state before you installed ubuntu
you didnt by chance use ubuntu's ntfs resizer? for some reason the only tool I've found to properly resized ntfs is mandrake's (mandriva's) tool.. 's odd
<3 Gedit
...and yeah, as Devari said, there's guis for about anything you'd want to change. ...though, word of warning, if its just a simple edit using a terminal and/or texteditor is generally safer. I've had some gui apps work fine, and others fail misribly. Ubuntu's forum is also a great source of knowledge if you get stuck

Ubuntu rocks - good choice there - though there's a new version coming out this month.
Yeah, command line is nice if you know enough commands - I mainly know commands from setting up IRCds etc and now I try to do as much as I can via the terminal because it is much quicker.
As I'm typing this - I am actually booted into my WinXP MCE side because I had to do some college work in visual basic (sucky or what - you'd think they'd teach us something decent - the silly gimps)
Anyway, brb - booting into Ubuntu again

Possibly - however they could have just blocked you for being annoying and stopped going on sites you go on?Death wrote: I knew a guy who switched to Ubuntu, he hasn't been online for a while. Related? Probably.
Haha, only kidding - they are probably having troubles with one of the very few unsupported wireless drivers. Either that or they use AOL and have a gimpy modem that won't work without a lot of tweaking in Ubuntu.
I must say though - it has come an awfully long way *Currently using 7.10 Beta* since I started using it - and that's just since I started using it on 6.06 Dapper Drake.
If you need a hand with anything make a topic for it in GD and ask away - that's what I did and all the Linux users on here helped me no end - I am greatful for that and I will do anything I can to help other new Linux users now.
EDIT: Oh yeah I'd recomend trying out compiz fusion - it's awesome - even though it's beta
