can someone give me a basic run down of an indy strat? The food selling strat is incredibly boring. I saw a little guide up a while ago about an indier, but I can't find it anymore.

Thats what I use, with a little modifications of my own, it netted me around 500-600mil in one BFR game.

That works. Variations on builds are also used, including 90% barracks, and using 30% camps when you sell, in order to boost your sell price. I'm not exactly sure that works here, though... Give it a try.

Also, I'd suggest that the most important thing is a good indy bonus, not a good Off. bonus, and hawks and def, you can forget about, normally.

alright, thanks for the ideas

I am getting incredibly low returns on troops. Can indy compete in any way with the farmers? Not that I care, I am going to indy anyways, but will I have to use a lot of agressive spy mission to stay in the running?

mate if your runnign indy, there is no way you will be able to compete with anyone runnign a mage strategy. Look at the 'spy' (mage) bonus for macedon compared to phoenician. It just isnt going to happen is it?

the key is to play to a races strangths.

yes thast right, but you will always lose land to a mager. Also remember to put a patrol up, and store/sell wahtever you can on the market.

I also note your location is the near east, you have to be in Europe for the 20% production bonus. Also, i would try and build a minimum of farms, maybe get a friendly farmer to sell you cheap troops....

95% Blacksmiths (Whatever they are here)
5% Farms
A random small amount of Mage Towers for a shield (Patrol?)

Sell sell sell, pretend you are a Vietnamese whore. This game has this neat little feature where once you sell on PM, it goes right to your bank, even if it overflows. Best part is there is no way to rob the banks in this game.

So yeah, easy money, safe money.

is there any point to more dens? It would make food massers unable to use leaders on me, but is that even worth the tradeoff?

Not really, no. Especially not with all the spy players in the set right now.

Eh, I moved to Europe and returns aren't too bad. Not as good as the food massing, but not bad either.

its worthwhile building dens later in the set when you are holding some troops, demolish them at the end of your run to create a decent ratio then everyone will fizzle on you.

If you're looking to win, I wouldn't go indy/spy. If you're just trying it out here, that's totally cool.
It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!
