You all know I wasn't with scaling from the start. It makes things look like they take forever to produce.

I'm for either upping the scaling a bit or removing it altogether. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I think it might be driving some players away.

I voted to show actual values but if after a few sets it doesn't change anything I would like the scaling back. I like the realness of the scaling but if it drives new players away it wouldn't hurt to take it away. Smaller numbers are easier on the eyes in my opinion.

what is karma, how do you get it and what is it good for?

back on topic, let's just test removing the scaling and advertising a lot and see what happens?

does it matter? The whole sacling thing i mean, is it that important?
Only in that it might be making people less likely to stay or causing them to loose interest. I mean, you scout 200 turns, and get $20,000? That doesn't particularly sound like a lot...

I'd agree. Let's do a couple rounds without scaling, with advertising, with maybe some affiliations, and let's see what happens. If we don't get any new people, we'll revert back, or go to something intermediate. If we get a few, we can ask them what they'd prefer, and what they'd think other new people would prefer.

Karma is... well, it's a system that indicates whether you're a good, upstanding, member of the community, or an annoying nuisance. In theory. In practice, we kinda don't always update it...

So is the change (if made) occurring next set or this set?

I'd vote this set. Its 2 days in and all, so not a big time lapse for change.

I also voted to get rid of scaling all together. I never liked it much anyway.

I'd vote for this set as well, rather than waiting for next set. Actually, I'd like to see market storing killed for this set as well, but that depends on Beatles and/or FireFrenzy (or maybe Devari?) having time to do some serious coding.

Hrm... it looks like people overall want some change to the scaling... We'll give it a day or so yet before we do anything, I think.

+1 for removing scaling this set. I think the market storing update should come as part of a reset though.

Bjorn, display scaling is better because a lot of the formulas have the built-in assumption of the current scale, that is, things would be skewed at different production values.

Consider an analogy. You can't shrink a human to the size of a thumb, or size of a building -- his volume and surface area are in harmony, and the ratio would change if you changed his size. If he were as tall as a skyscraper, his bones would collapse due to the weight. If he were small as a thumb, he would lose core temperature due to the greater surface area he'd be losing heat on. But if you zoom in on him from different distances ("only the display") there's no problem with the scaling, no inconsistency. You can see him at any size you like on a photo.

It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

I don't know. Do you think going back to a Redwall theme would be the kind of thing we need in a theme?

Or are you trying to be sarcastic?

those are just random. we are looking for a whole theme to build the game around, not just unit names
