but I think the game should have one standard theme. better to be uniform
better than splitting the game off into seperate directories though (/hp /lotr /pokemon)

I am going to suggest again that we make race specific spells - new players right now probably get the feeling that all races are the same, and quit after getting bored of the one they are using, probably incorrectly. Having different spells to try might give them incentive to stick around for a while.
Race specific spells, sure. RWL has had them for a while, they generally match the stratagy the race was geared twards, so it works.
But I dont think newbies get bord with races. I think they look at the race chart and say WTF?
I mean, there's a link to the race guide on the signup page. But the content of the chart would be unclear to somone who hasnt played before. I dont see a way to solve that, other than making revolts cheaper or free for the first week or so.
As old as FAF is, changing themes to draw new members seems wierd. The other examples quoted were games that had their specific theme from the beginning.
It makes sence, as if the game is going to survive it needs members, but that doesnt stop it from feeling odd
I'm rather partial to a pokemon theme myself = D
But thats pretty burnt out by now. the release of Pokemon Diamond for DS proved its still got a strong fanbase, but on the whole...
Harry Potter? Eh. There's potential I guess. Dementors, Dragons, Goblins, Wizards, Merepeople, et all. I dont think the fanbase as a whole are promi players though. I could be wrong... but eh.
LOTR is overdone already, imo
I'd be against making a theme off a game. Seems too much like leaching... more than drawing from literary works anyways
