Your input wanted: switching providers

We have been having occasional reliability problems with our host, BitTraffic. They don't occur too often, but when they strike, our site goes offline for days at a time. I think it would be a good idea to switch providers, but I am not prepared to move more than a few dollars higher than our current monthly rate of $3. Most hosting reviews on the web are fake and paid for by companies, so I am trying to get your input into what providers we could switch to. The main thing for me is reliability, so I instinctively shy away from new or small companies. Anyway, let us know both what you think, and what providers you recommend.

Mm. GoDaddy is always an option, if you want a big host
ECONOMY PLAN
10 GB Space | 300 GB Transfer
100 Email Accounts
10 MySQL Databases
3mos: $4.99/mo
12mos:$4.74/mo Save 5%‡
24mos:$4.49/mo Save 10%‡
36mos:$4.24/mo Save 15%‡
The only thing I'd recommend with GoDaddy is to not give them the domain name. Give that to no-ip or something. I've heard a few horror stories about them not wanting to give up the domain name and/or accidentally removing it.

Me, nonnie (Fiona) and Dr-Evil (Tom) have actually split off BitTraffic and setup a new company because of the issues you mention. Not going to say "go there" etc because that would be self promotion but I will say that the reason behind it was to setup a better company that offers better support and reliability.
I'm not going to put the link up either, however, if you want to take a look, shoot me a message on msn (webmaster AT florida4us DOT com) or g-talk (slasherx2 AT gmail DOT com), or you can pm me here if you like.
Just as a side note, I apologize for recommending BitTraffic, they used to be awesome back in the day, but they seem to have dropped one hell of a lot in the last few months.

Why not? If you're going to advertise for yourself, might as well drop all your information. You know what we need, now sell yourself to us and we'll decide.

Due to economic constraints we pushed this back. However, it IS done. Should be officially switched in less than 48hrs. Probably closer to 12.
