The idea for an indy, is to get the good indy rate (land) and use turns on cheap upkeep (storage)
the way things are setup now, i've got the resources i need to run turns without making any sales. If i make a big sale i'm vulnerable to getting the cash stolen.
The best way i've noticed around this is to use turns when applicable (apx 200turns) and buy troops from the public market. This will chew into your rivals market stocks and put it on top of yours while retaining financial safety hand in hand with defense towards a 3rd party. Stealing the cash back is an option.
check what people are using to attack and defend the line before they hit.

Remember that whatever you stick on the market, you better be trying to sell it. You'll only get 10% back of what you put on it.

another thing is, saving 24 turns, use 10 to demolish and 14 to build Guards
Sure defense towers aren't gonna completely defend your empire but if you have a few towers they'll protect all 4 lines for 20 hours while you don't move turns.
5m troops suddenly needs 7m to break

The count of Spies you hold should vary, if you have some tough military, it's probably a good idea to get spies and force people to attack at high costs with troops.

All strats work well when nobody really attacks them and the game population is what, 4 people?

very logical arthus, if there's only 2 players both strategies will win. Thanks for the input, extremely useful

Indeed, apparently he's trying to embarrass you Arthus. You shouldn't let him for much longer, you know.

I can only play until the end of this week, then school comes first and will play sporadically. I broke him today, even with his annoying amount of guard towers.

Land Division
Mines: 0
Tents: 0
Smithies: 16,692
Camps: 0
Dens: 10,199
Farms: 0
Towers: 0
Unused Land: 0

I had 0 defense towers

forget the stats they change daily to fill weaknesses, look at the setup and effectiveness.

I'm running indy at a premium rate
I convert my upkeep into frozen assets then finish on an empire that you can break but get little value from the land.
Don't forget i hit back

Yes your both right
Strategic war games. Think before you move.

It very much depends who wins. If there's a team, they have the choice to control the winner. If it's solo players, the player who cares the most and works the most effectively for the month will win.

If no one wastes turns. it depends on opportunity when they run for land access, the face value is what most people look at in this game. If you make a run today that will hurt someone in 3days time it's worth thinking ahead to gain a good position on the land. Sometimes defense will discourage someone great at scraping and save the next run many turns.

most people work a couple days to achieve something, depending if it's to fill the bank to generate troops, storage, food or whatever. Catch them at day 2 to slow them down and extend their objective.
People making scrolls should be hit with standard attacks. People with cash and food should have regular steals to increase paranoia, people with troops lose land cheaply and get defended against.

Positioning your empire at the right time is critical. The right moves to cover the majority and adapt to whatever happens
