Here's a good discussion started by Rudder on theme switching:
http://frostnflame.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=4267

If we do that, we could also look at some of the things we planned for our membership drive here:
http://frostnflame.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=2223&st=105

For instance, invading other promis as a FAF clan. Plus that's usually fun too.

Now there is a neat theme idea!

Though one problem I see here is that Pratchett isn't in good health either.

It's not as if the Discworld community is going to go away quickly if he dies.

One thing though, I am not sure how big it is. Redwall was a pretty big community, we just didn't see much of it. Look at fanfiction.net's number of stories -- I filtered the top entries until I got to Discworld by what I knew. Discworld is maybe 30th.
  • Harry Potter (507,611)</li>
  • Twilight (178,007)</li>
  • Lord of the Rings (44,601)</li>
  • Phantom of the Opera (9,858)</li>
  • Chronicles of Narnia (7,997)</li>
  • Silmarillion (2,776)</li>
  • Sherlock Holmes (2,710)</li>
  • Les Miserables (1,997)</li>
  • Redwall (1,793)</li>
  • Pride and Prejudice (1,587)</li>
  • Discworld (1,557)</li>

That's still pretty substantial. It would also tend to bring in more people who are close to the existing average age on the forum.

My only concern with any switch, is that:

1. It be to something that's popular or catchy.
2. It has a base already
3. There are game communities already in existence we can draw from.

Otherwise, I suppose I'm for a change to anything even if I don't know what its about. :D

You're right, Discworld fans might fit in better here.

Just to get everyone's opinion, what would you guys think of a Narnia theme? Again there's enough source material to probably make it work.

Oh my, it's been nearly a year since I posted on here.

...and it's probably been 4 or so years since I actually played this game. Ergo, I have very little to contribute, all in all. :P

Well, good luck.

Could always send out a mass email to all our old members, once we've established the new theme/mechanics. If nothing else, we could get some people here to rage at us for being such evil spammers. :P

Narnia would be good, but do you think CS Lewis may have anything to say about it?

Oh Freen, somehow missed your post. There are some Discworld games out there, though different from ours. Not sure how active its online community is, but at least somewhat active if fanfiction.net and a quick google search are to be believed.
