I don't mean let's decide to revert or let's decide to build a new system. Its going to be EITHER one of the other. Depends if we can find the old code. :P

I'd just suggest forgetting about what the old stuff is if we can't get it in about 3 days time. So let's just dicuss/throw out new ideas for land.

My first thought is a % range grab. IE: You can get about 5-8% of the total land, with a min of 100 until the 500 limit. Modify numbers as you see fit. But theoretically you should be able to get quite a bit in say, 12 attacks.

 Quick Math on that:
50,000 land would go down at 8% to 19981.97 acres.  A 61% decrease
At 5% it would take you down to 28,440 acres exactly.  A 44% decrease
Other systems are hard coded ranges, exponential/logarithmic systems... Taylor series. :P

Actually, I only changed

Changed landloss_mult=1.0
Changed landloss_mage_mult=0.67

I also beefed up cashing a tiny bit. Lemme know if attacks need to be more greedy or if I should boost the other stats.

(Sidenote: I know there is not that many players but this is my first round :D )

I've thought recently that it would be interesting to have increased land gained by attacks where the opponent has no troops to defend their land with, ie 0 troops.

This would make sense to me because if there is nobody guarding the land, it is easier to get the land and take more than if the enemy has alot of troops guarding it and you suffer losses in battle, meaning you won't be able to take as much land.

Just a thought.

Fits in with Freen's idea of land gained in proportion to surviving troops. There still has to be a limit on how much you can gain per attack, as it takes more to take over land, your administrators and workers have to integrate it and so forth.
