I think that it would be nice if moderators would write down why someone got negative karma or just tell that someone so that he could stop doing it and get positive karma! Example: I now have -2 karma but I have no idea why! I don't spam and I am never obcene or anything yet still I have -2!! Could I at least know why and what I can stop doing to not offend and get into positive karma?

To gain positive Karma, you will gain points if you say something profound, smart, helpful, funny, or if you report a bug on Dev. You loose Karma by vulgar language and bad spelling. Bad spelling is the only thing I've taken Karma away for. Three in total, one from each Otter Horde, Slasher, and FWF. I do not know the actions of the other Admins/Mods.

Could you please define "bad spelling" like just have bad spelling or does punctuation and stuff count. Like when I go like this...

Yeah and if the moderators had to say why they gave extra karma (or took it away) would prevent moderators (I am not saying that mods are doing this) from taking away or giving karma because of friendships, or attacks on FAF. (though I do think that if someone is being a kill monger and they have a forums account that should credit for negative karma)

Bad spelling is grammar, which is punctuation, spelling of words, etc... Periods at the end of sentences do not count in bad punctuation in my book.

For giving excellent replies and/or suggestions.

I will tell you why I give/take Karma away (not that it matters, cause Karma doesn't do anything for you).

But, you see, I don't make excellent replies or suggestions. ;)

If Karma is such a big deal, we can simply pin a topic in the GD that admins can just edit or something.

Well why not make Karma of some use, for example you could use it to buy things like a member title or trade it with other people for things like sigs etc?
I do not have a signature, you must be imagining

Karma shouldn't become currency. However, I would like to see it used as a basis for handing out custom titles, as well as used in consideration for granting staff posistions, either permenent or temperary.

Why not be able to use it as currency or something to barter with?

Because then people who did little that was good or helpful could accumulate large amounts by providing sigs and avatar, and anything else members would want on the forums, while people who did a lot of helpful things would end up with lower karmas then they deserved, because they are being force to pay for stuff.

What if you could get Karma taken away for producing an awful sig?

Karma is sort of a status symbol, though. Not much else - a high karma shows you are a productive member of the community, generally well-liked, and a good player. A negative karma shows that you are a chronic spammer, do not perhaps contribute as much as you should to the community, and tend not to come up with great game ideas or find bugs.

I'd like to see the top 3 of each set get 1 karma each. Benevolent in-game activities (training newbies, sending out aid, being generally curteous and nice) should also net you some karma.

I suppose you could get a custom title at a certain level of karma, though. Perhaps you could also use it for special small servers, like a 1v1 or 3v3.

Ex:

Person A has 10 karma. Person B also has 10 karma. They can put in a request for a face-off 1v1 to the administrators, who would then (probably) set it up for them. There are two regular admins (Beatles and myself) here that have the knowledge to set that up in a second, so it isn't too much of a hassle.

But you shouldn't "spend" karma. Karma isn't "points". It measures your, well, karma. If you have a high enough karma, you can get extra perks and such.
