OK here's my 2 cents on fixing land dropping.

1: Make it cost turns, exact same turn requirements as demolishing buildings.

2: Make abandoned/deleted empires hittable.

3: If necessary, require someone to hold onto land for a day before they can delete it.

If Beatles didn't want land dropping to be possible then he wouldn't have the option in the game. With the suggestions I have listed the only way to drop land would be if someone were to be able to hold the land for a day. If nobody else has been using his land then I don't see any problems with him doing whatever he wants with it.

i would suggest not doing it at all.
sure, land dropping is a stratagy, but its also a chance for others to be all around pricks. they see the opportunity to drop land as a chance to irk everyone else. is there stratagy in that? sure, they get to make everyone else loose net and the like cause they built uber net when they had all the land before dropping it.
but at the same time, it frustrates players and turns some off from the game. serious...

all i have to say is that if your going to drop land, then consider a few things:
1/ you should be killed
2/ no one will like/trust you
3/ it sucks

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

1). Have a landfarm that catches all dropped land.

Didnt see this thread,

There is a reason to drop land other than just irking people, its used for mages to drop to perfect ratios.

I like the land farm idea but what about this? If a player dropps land it is automatically FAed to the lowest net empire in game..:)

Anyrate, land should not be a problem. 10 acres or 100k acres, he who can pwn you on 10 will pwn you on 100k.

and I pwn a pair of my own dirty undees, keep yours at your sisters where they belong :)

We should be careful about land getting FAed to anyone for any reason. That can be easily exploited in a variety of ways.

Aye. I like the idea of a landfarm 1: It costs turns to drop lands. 2: It all goes to a land farm. Effectivly defeats all purposes for dropping land except to raise ratio, which isnt' bad in itself.

Yeah, I was gonna suggest that one. I seriously think we should implement a land farm. Beatles...? well don't just stand there! Either do it, or say no... (or wait til next set of course  ) or of course state your opinion and wait for more suggestions <_< not trying to tell you what to do or anything of course!

I think Beatles is on vacation/traveling. (Well, I know he's traveling, I just don't know if it's vacation, or something else). He said he'd be home today, so he'll probably be on tormorrow, if he doesn't pop on tonight. (Probably depends on how tired he's feeling.)

Wow, thou remembers't well, Sir Ruddertail!

I have not liked the idea of land farms in the past -- but perhaps that is only because RWL implemented them first. Silly, of course, but there you are.

Considering purely the merits of the idea, it seems a good one. I would implement it by having an explicit "Drop Land" option in the game, not just beside "Empty Land" in Demolish. Then that could also mention land farms. This option could be on the Demolish page, but more clearly separated.

In short, while I like the idea, I am now much more busy than I was. Thus it could take some time before this is implemented.

Nother thing we could do, is have all dropped land get stuck into AI accounts. So that ppl could stil drop, but the land wouldn't leave the game.

*laughs*. If I've ever played RWL. You're joking right?

The landfarms do that there, I think, but for the most part since they are there, ppl don't drop and all they do is scout.

You have to attack the land farm to take it's land. And there is alot of attacking going on... and scouting is just desperate o.O *laughs*

No, he means the land farms scout, I believe. That's one thing I wouldn't do, or if I did, make it minimal. 1k a day. 28k added by the landfarm over the course of a BFR set. On WOA, I wouldn't let it scout at all. Just let it catch land. And have it catch the land of those people who die because they were abbandoned, too.
