I just discovered DocuWiki. It is a really neat way to manage my information.

There are lots of things to like about it; I'll just list why I like it:
* Trivial to install and needs no database
* Media-Wiki like-formatting
* Can manage files, tasks, do calendaring, etc.
* Has ACLs, so you can share certain content with other users if you want to
* A wiki is a really great tool to manage information (dynamic nature, graph-like, flexible, revisioned, etc.), and this is a very well-executed wiki
* An explicit feature is that the files are easily readable and accessible even without the wiki software
* Can embed HTML, PHP, LaTex, PGN, FLV, SQL queries, CVS, syntax-higlighted code snippets, etc. into wiki pages
* There are some really cool plugins: drawing, chess replayer, amazon info puller, gallery, video site, client-side javascript-based encryption, latex parsing
* It is not half-baked like many other wikis, it's security-conscious, well tested, looks clean and elegant, and it's inspired my confidence

I have transferred quite a lot of my information into it in a short amount of time, and it's nice that it remains easily accessible to other tools, like vim.

Seems... useful. I take it requires a webserver? *reads TFM* Yup...

If this notebook had more than 4 seconds battery life, I might bother... As it is, I don't think I'll be dragging it to class ever again.

There are some standalone wikis, see Wikipedia's Personal Wiki page. But I prefer a web server...

I appreciate this wiki's file management capabilities more and more, by the way.

Another neat thing is that it auto-saves drafts of my document! :)

And I've been using the client-side encryption module more and more and like it very much.

The RSS feature and the elegant and easy gallery plugin are great too. I'm falling in love with this software.

And it has a fine search system -- very fast, very usable, very useful.
