If we're not using it anymore, can we scrap it? Also, are we sure we've left the settings so people can still sign up?

No one has to approve. Its just they're getting past the spam prevention now.

No. They can't post links until they have a certain number. Since most bots post links, the post gets cancelled, thus solving the problem.
