Well, we can make that a 'Turbo'-style. One way or another, this turn rate is staying, whether in CoG or BFR.
BFR is just /too/ fast. If you can have 500 turns, then you can pretty much kill someone.
I wish you guys had started playing RWL Regular. You got one turn per ten minutes. And you could play well there, too.

Not if we adopt Veranor's and Nohc's suggestions, no. The only way to kill in one day is if there is a war between two sizable clans. But, I guess, if you want that turn rate, well, that's what it'll be.
What do you mean by a "Turbo" style server? Isn't "Turbo" usually defined as and by having a faster turn rate. I suppose if we dropped CoG's turn rate down to 1/10, then the faster server could be thought of as Turbo. But I wouldn't be particularly excited by that idea, I like the 2/10 on CoG. 1/10 is kind of fun, but a little more excitment is nice, too...

I haven't read this topic, and I'm only just getting back on here. Busy with tons of stuff; you know the story.
Personally, I love having the BFR turn rate. What you haven't considered is lowering the MAX turns. As Beatles said, you can kill someone/ruin an account with 500 turns. But, lowering the turn rate ruins the unique speed aspect of BFR.
If the max turns were only, say, 400, it is much less likely that one could kill.
As a side note, someone once mentioned (a while back) a rather interesting penalty for killing - the remainder of your enemy's troops perform a "Suicidal Rush" on you, killing some of your troops. We could extend this... The remainder of troops, in their fanatical situation, destroy 2x their amount. The workers of the fallen empire take it upon themselves to revenge their country, and destroy 2x the end amount of resources of their country.
It might be best to have incentives NOT to kill, as well. Perhaps sending a certain % of aid out can gain you some 1337 skillz!
Actually, here is an interesting point: since I have (once we get 2.0 out the door) both cities and a revamped hero system in the works, perhaps acts of kindness could aid your hero/city. Remember, we are "goodbeasts" - thus, acts of kindness should aid your "karma" in some way.
Off on a tangent, presuming I actually get off my seat and start working on it, cities would theoretically have the ability to become a place of last resort - only attackable in a prolonged seige. Combined with massive defense bonuses for defenders, that could make it VERY hard to kill.
Of course, that is for the future. For now, my previous suggestions stand. I must say, this is a good discussion to have.
Thoughts, comments, and the such?

If you go down to the woods today, you better not go alone
It's a lovely day in the woods today, but safer to stay at home

Well, a lower turn limit might work, the downside would be that it even more favors those who can get online more often.
I'm definatly liking the suicide rush type thing. It would discourage kills majorly. The only way to avoid this would be to smash all of the targets' troops with standards, which would cause heavy losses to the attacker, and possibly keep them from being able to break. The losses caused by the enemies troops should be applied to stored troops/resorces to prevent people from storing most of their troops and resorces just before they kill someone.
I'm not sure I like the idea of aiding people helping you. Even though we are goodbeasts, this is a war game, and this idea might tend to tip it in the HPR direction...
Forcing drawn out seiges of cities would be a good way to prevent kills. I certainly like that idea. So, get back to work
