It varied, in my experience, it was the "Minister of Magic" throughout the series, but other things changed spelling from book to book. Defense Against the Dark Arts became Defence against the Dark Arts, for example.

It may have simply been that you read the US edition here and the UK edition there, no?

Perhaps he means the edition you read varied between the UK and American editions. It's possible, no?

I dunno, inconsistent editing like that in a high-profile series is kinda inexcusable when you consider that these people are professionals. I find the reading of different versions for different books scenario far more plausible...

Sorry, by "here" and "there" I meant "here or there", i.e. at different times/locations, etc. within the US. I'm sure some UK or Canadian editions come to the US and vice versa.

I suppose it's possible that I read different versions, I didn't buy all the books at the same place, and some of them were bought for me, as a present. They all had the American covers though.

pah!

all i have to say is that i always knew that professor Snape was on Dumbledore & Potter's side.
also, near the end when Snapes memory about his and Dumbledore's discussion about how Harry had to die because he holds a piece of Voldamort's soul and thusly accepts his fate is quite saddening; but also understandable.
especially when Potter deciedes to go on ahead and have Voldamort kill him in order to destroy Voldamort in the process.

The Kraken, which is found primarily in Scandinavian myth, was a huge sea creature. It was said to lie at the bottom of the sea for a long time and then it would rest at the surface....Like the Midgard serpent in the Norse myths, the Kraken was supposed to rise to the surface at the end of the world.

Isn't it Voldermort? Not Voldamort? and me, along with most other people knew that snape wasn't on Voldermorts side, it was fairly obvious. My favorite part was at the end when the house elves charge the death eaters, that to me was the funniest part of the book. The thought of a bunch of small elves charging with little knives was hilarious.

From what I understand, there could have been some pathos to it if Harry buys the farm, but as it is, he got the classic fairy-story happy ending. Eh well.

My understanding of the plot of the book was that the elves have their own special kind of magic that often transcends or trumps that of the humans'. So why in the world would they charge like so many 10-year-olds, waving forks and knives, instead of using their abilities...? Anyway, if you want consistency in fantasy, Tolkien's a few notches better.

sure Artus: i misspelled Voldemort. i have never claimed that i could spel. ;)
and it must be nice to be among many who "knew" that Snape was on Dumbledore's side. I had my very good suspecions and my son and several others thought that Snape was a total traitor. Rowling did very well in setting up that very important and continuing plot twist. i guess that since you "knew" and did not mearly "suspect" means that you knew the author personally and had some inside information that the rest of us lacked.

Beatles: if you think that Potter got a fairy tale ending then, that may be close, but it isnt true. think about all that he lost and all that he went through to achieve the end result....oh wait...thats right. you havent read em.
no wonder.
maybe you could help me with some Brit lingo however. I never understood what it meant when a character in the books would say "wotcher"

anyways: i agree with you Artus; the house elves charging were hilarious. and Beatles, to even compare Tolkien's elves to Rowlings elves is hilarious because each author created thier own type of elf that are totally opposite ends of the spectrum.
even though Rowlings elves have there own type of magic that apparently supercede's any other magic doesnt mean that they can use it liberaly. they are restricted by laws and rules and the like.

and nuke: havent you ever heard the term? ever heard of a Wine carnosaur or maybe i am spelling that wrong. maybe its carnosuer, *laughs*, anyway, i meant it in a sense that i like to Consume literarture in a reckless manner because it love it.
your lack of....catching on to that astounds me! but anyway....
it was just a term i was using. *laughs*.
